Inspired by Colonel Bernard Fisher, USAF and recipient of the Congressional Medal of Honor, after reading Beyond the Call of Duty, Dan invited Bernie to come to Washington D.C. for a number of important events, including President Bush's second inauguration and a tour of Walter Reed Medical Hospital where Bernie visited with seriously injured Air Force members serving in Iraq.
