Here is an excerpt from a KSL News Radio interview about his
book, Beyond the Call of Duty: The Story of An American Hero in
Vietnam, co-authored with Colonel Bernard Fisher, USAF, retired.
Host: Let's talk about the genesis of this book. We were discussing the
Vietnam Era because both you and I grew up during that era. Was that
part of the motivation for wanting to write and work on this book with the
colonel?
Jerry: You know, it's interesting. I've previously written two books in the
World War II Era, and it's been my natural area of interest. And it finally
dawned on me that I needed to write a book out of our time and to deal
with some of the issues that people faced who lived through Vietnam. And
so I actually sort of went looking for this story because it was an era I
wanted to understand better.

the award-winning Three Against Hitler with Rudi Wobbe, A
Distant Prayer with Joseph Banks, and Beyond the Call of Duty
with Bernie Fisher. Jerry and Rudi Wobbe are National Award
Winners of the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for their
contribution to promoting the cause of freedom through their
writing.
Jerry's historical novels, 'Til The Boys Come Home, I'll Be Seeing
You, and As Time Goes By, follow his deep interest in World War I
and II. The fourth and final book, Home Again At Last, covers the
Mediterranean theater in World War II and is now available in
bookstores.
He and his wife Marcella live in Sandy, Utah, and have four
children--Scott & Hilary, Jeff & Eden and their daughter, Steve,
and Kelissa.
